About

Tory Benoit is an artist and photographer born and raised in Los Angeles, California. She studied Art History and Photography at the University of Arizona. She holds a Master’s degree in Contemporary Art from Sotheby’s Institute of Art, New York, as well as a Master of Library and Information Science with an emphasis in Archival Studies from Pratt Institute.

Benoit began her career in the contemporary art world as a librarian and archivist. She served as Librarian at Gagosian Gallery in New York, where she oversaw the gallery’s physical and digital archives, and later worked within the print archive of the Joan Mitchell Foundation. These roles shaped her sensitivity to material history and the narratives embedded in images and objects; threads that continue to inform her photographic practice.

Her work explores psychological intimacy, the body as an emotional landscape, and the ways memory, presence, and self-perception are formed and disrupted through the visual experience.

Her work has been published in DuJour Magazine, Palm Beach Illustrated, and Palm Beach Daily News.

Benoit lives and works between Los Angeles and Palm Beach with her husband, Brian, and their two children.
